Napoleon Dynamite

I’m sitting here watching the movie Napoleon Dynamite as I type this, and I have to ask- WHAT exactly do people like about this movie? It’s absolutely horrible. I’m more than an hour into the movie, now, and I’ve yet to so much as chuckle at it. Where’s the humor? Someone, please explain it to me. I don’t get it. I’m tempted to just turn it off now, but I really wanna see why it’s so popular.

It turns out that humor is subjective these days.

I thought Napoleon Dynamite was funny because watching is caused me to laugh. Then again that was before it started getting quoted nonstop by everybody.

People who talk about nunchucks are funny.

The only part of the movie I found remotely entertaining was the dance scene. That was some funny stuff right there — too bad the rest of the movie sucked.

Some people I’ve met relate to it incredibly well, and that seems to be the draw. I’m on your side on this one.

People are quoting it nonstop? I havent heard any. What lines in that movie are actually QUOTABLE? I can’t remember a single one.

that’s basically the deal yes. even if the movie and characters are very insular.

The whole film feels like it’s made up entirely of all the most awkward moments and awkward people that you might meet in reality. To that degree, it becomes a sort of dry surrealism. It reminds me of Christopher Guest or Wes Anderson humor, dumbed down just a little.

I do think people will root on Napolean during his ackward comments about Dragons and ninjas. I don’t know, when i watched i didn’t find any characters really interesting, i mean sure they were all over the top but it didn’t really grab me as good characters, and i should’ve, but didn’t connect with them.

I don’t know, i’ve watced more memorable comedies or teen movies.

I didn’t really get it either, or find it funny. But I pretend to because of peer pressure. Like they say, “Always succumb to peer pressure!”
